"It’s been quite some time since reviewing a product for young children elicited such a warm fuzzy feeling for me.
From the very moment I opened the package, the bandage has been a real tickle. Let me explain.
Parents are not necessarily aware of the importance of their role in their child’s social emotional development,
and as a result, and as a society, we are willing to buy most anything that will be an extension of us in the
comforting of a child thus buying us some space and time. Of course parents need support and tools that will help
them help their child learn to self comfort; my point is that parents need coaching on what it is that they are
doing! This product has enormous parent education potential.
Just the image of a bandage being removed from a package brought to my mind the image of how very tender and
vulnerable our children’s emotions are and how powerful an image the bandage conjures up in helping adults to
understand this very important domain of development. For example, it occurs to me that it is not uncommon for
more empathy is elicited for physical owies of children because parents do not know that children are learning the
nuances of their emotional selves and emotional regulation. The development of a product like yours will allow for
an opportunity for adults to have new images (in an old frame) representing the need for TLC for any number of
issues young children experience. While adults are accepting of a child’s need for a security item such as a blanket,
they will express their lack of understanding of why they need it.
As children get older, I think they would love to wrap themselves up in the bandage having learned the good feelings
of self care and how to seek comfort on their own." Vicki Thrasher Cronin is a licensed parent educator

“Helping children learn to self-soothe through having this soft, cuddly band-aid can be an important
part of the growing process of self-regulation that every child goes through.” Betty Cooke leader in

When my daughter was a toddler, it wasn't only cleaning supplies that had to go into high or locked
cabinets -- we also had to hide the band-aids, lest she plaster herself head to toe every time she
experienced a boo-boo. Real or imagined.
To this day, she still requires extensive TLC to treat every injury. So when I saw the (oopdoo)hug, I
knew it had my sensitive girl's name written all over it. The softest featherweight fleece you've ever
touched is fashioned into a giant band-aid facsimile available in a variety of colors and prints, all 100%
made in the USA. The center "pad" is a pouch to hold your ice pack or warm rice pillow, then the
whole thing can be wrapped around whichever body part requires soothing. Sure, it'd be a great
lovey for a tot, but I guarantee my kid will be packing this when she leaves for college. At which
point I'll have to stop "borrowing" hers (hey, my knee was sore) and buy my own. - Mir at

I saw this little Mom-invented product and I instantly fell in love with it. It is a giant, soft, sweet,
cozy band-aid for those boo-boos that don't bleed. Stomach aches, bruises, hurt feelings...anything
really. Just something for them to love on while they're hurt. - Laura inventor of the OnTray

Summer + toddler = lots of scraped knees and bandages. So of course, I bought the cute Dora ones for
my little girl. However, now, everytime there is something wrong, even if it has nothing to do with
her skin, she of course needs a Dora Band-Aid™... So I found this clever, mom-invented product that
is a perfect comfort for those "Band-Aid™ not really needed" moments. It also makes a great get-well
gift or new baby gift. It even holds a hot or cold pack. And IMO, it's a better placebo effect than
giving them a pill and making them think that they're getting medicine. RealMomsRock.com

This last month has been sick city in my house. My son, daughter and I all caught the bug. Fun times.
One day when my son was really not feeling well, a package arrived in the mail just in time. It was
from (oopdoo)™, the bandage for booboos that don’t bleed. It came wrapped in beautiful purple
toole with a cute booklet to tell the (oopdoo)™ story. My son instantly grabbed his (oopdoo)™,
which resembles a large bandage, and rested on the couch holding it tightly. He was happy, content
and feeling a bit better! I was in love and so thankful to the awesome mom that created this get
well blanket for my son. Read the full review at Ohana Mama's Blog.

There is no doubt about it, kids love Band-Aids. And now there is a new way to provide the little
extra TLC they need without the stickiness. The answer? The Oopdoo Hug! It is a piece of soft fleece
fabric (with an ever-growing pattern selection) in the shape of a gigantic Band-Aid. It acts like a
blanket, a bandage, and a hug all at once. The white patch in the center can even be used with a
cold or hot compress for the real aches and pains. And to top it all off, the huggable bandages are
manufactured in the United States and are committed to the employment of American workers. So
go ahead and spread the love, let the healing process begin. WorkingMother.com

My son loves using the (oopdoo)™ to heal his everyday ouchies. They work just like a mother’s kiss.
I’ve even caught him on several occasions snuggled up with the (oopdoo)™ on the couch to offer the
magic of the (oopdoo)™ to his favorite superhero, Spiderman. You see, Spiderman apparently fell of
the couch and bumped his head so my son automatically grabbed the (oopdoo)™ to comfort
Spiderman’s “ouchie”. So Sweet. Read the full review at www.domesticdiva.org

Most every parent knows that when a child has an ache or booboo the bandage is a miracle
cure...Occasionally I have persuaded her to wrap it around her mid-section when she complained of a
tummy ache and it seemed to magically help. She likes to put dolls in the pocket rather than a gel
pack, but I can see real value in that feature should the need arise...Read the full review at

I have recently received a product for review that is so cute and ingenious that it has left me
thinking Why didn’t I think of that? ... Kids seem to think that band-aids hold magical healing
powers. My kids request band-aids for every boo-boo even if they don’t draw blood or break the
skin. They can be screaming their head off in pain but be instantly soothed with the application of a
band-aid. My kids also love to put a heating pad on their upset tummies which also seems to hold the
same magical powers of a band-aid....I’m no longer at a loss for what to buy an ailing child. The

...Kelsie is a blankie lover and normally when she gets hurt that's what she wants. Believe it or not,
when she fell down and scraped her knee (not enough for a band aid) the oopdoo came to the
rescue. She was thrilled to have it. And what's really nice is that there is a pocket attached so that
you can add an ice pack or a heat pack and wrap it around or lay it on some boo boos. Kayla really
liked this, for her growing pains in her legs. She took her heat pack and put it in the pocket and
wrapped it around her leg before bed one night. Read the full review at JoJo's Place

...What made me think of preschool is I remember when my boys went, and they would collide with
another kid and get a bump, and want a bandaid even though they weren’t bleeding. There’s
something about bandaids that makes kids feel comforted. Well, being able to wrap a soft fleece
“bandaid” around the bumped arm or leg is sure to feel comforting too, it’s like combining the
bandaid with their favorite soft blanket! My daughter has been carrying her (oopdoo)™ around this
week because her brothers are up North at a friend’s grandparents’ house, so she’s been a little

I took the (oopdoo)™hug with me to San Diego to try it on my grandson, who was 22 months old. We
opened it up, and he wore it a bit, and then we put it back on the table for my daughter to see. We
loved its softness and wondered at what a unique idea this was! That evening, my grandson was
running hard in the house and ran front-faced into a toy car. He fell back and started to turn blue as
his breath was knocked out of him. We brought him to, and he was glassy eyed. He sat on the couch
to cuddle with his mom, and we put a small stuffed animal in the (oopdoo)™hug and he held it to his
heart. This self-soothing was clear, and we appreciated the softness of the product material.
A wonderful story for a wonderful product. So kudos to the warm and fuzzy product. I recommend it
highly because I saw it in action. Dr. Caron Goode author of "The Art & Science of Coaching Parents"

...I can certainly understand why an idea like the (oopdoo)tm hug would be popular. My kids love it
and they feel comforted by it. My advice however, is to make sure you take it away once they are
feeling better. Otherwise, they treat it like a blankie and want to take it everywhere. Keep it for
those occasions that warrant a little extra healing power. I highly recommend as a safe and better
alternative to medicine whenever possible....read the full review at the Mom Entrepreneur blog

It seems like almost every day at my home someone gets mildly hurt. Injuries range from a stubbed
toe, bruise on the knee, tummy ache, or a case of the hurt feelings.
For some unexplained reason, my girls love band-aids (I've started to hide them on a shelf way up
high) and ask for them repeatedly. In fact, one of the first words my one year old learned is "ouch".
In my opinion, band-aids are expensive to use if your not really bleeding (or "blooding" as my 4 year
olds says), and let's face it, not all boo boo's bleed. The Oopdoo hug is a brilliant product, created by
a clever mom, that fixes and sooths all imaginary, or not so imaginary, aches and pains... Read the

“This product reminds me of the child-friendly ice packs you can buy (e.g., stuffed animals with a slot
for an ice cube). I've seen many children respond positively to those. It also can be part of a reliable
response for children when they get hurt or sick--"let's go get the bandaid blanket!" All children like
predictability, especially in times of stress or discomfort, so building this into the caregiving routine
when a child is hurt or sick could be helpful.” Amy Susman Stillman co-director for the Center for
Early Education and Development at the University of MN.

If I had to name my top ten mom-invented products of the year, this one would be on the top of the
list. Seriously. (oopdoo) hug (launched June 2008) blew me away, because I, Iike Katherine Klinger,
the inventor of this product (and probably the rest of you) have kids who really love band-aids, even
for bumps…I love their tag, “because not all boo-boos bleed.” So true… most often it’s our feelings I
think that need the biggest band-aids. I appreciate how (oopdoo) hug is actually a warm fuzzy way to
heal broken hearts, but can also be used for real hurts too– you can also put an hot/ice pack in the
center white fabric pocket if the child truly needs one....read the full review at startupprincess.com
